Sustainable travel and vacation at the Alpine Lodge am Arlberg

… Environmentally friendly vacations

For the sake of the environment

The Alpine Lodge Klösterle is nestled in a breathtaking mountain scenery. In an alpine landscape like this, we are closely connected with nature. We like to share the beauty of this natural habitat with our guests.

The preservation of our species-rich habitat is of central importance to us. Therefore, we strive to always consider the protection of the environment in our actions. For us, this also means enabling our guests to enjoy an environmentally and climate-friendly stay. Help us to preserve these natural beauties and use the available resources sparingly!

… for the climate-friendly locomotion

Vorarlberg can be reached from almost all over Germany by train quickly, cheaply and in a climate-friendly way. There is also a new direct connection between Frankfurt and our closest train stations Bludenz and Langen am Arlberg (Vorarlberg).

… the natural drink from the mountains

Alpine spring water

What a privilege it is to drink fresh alpine spring water of the best quality directly from the tap.
Our water comes from the “Steinernes Meer” in the Formarin mountains at about 2000 m above sea level and travels for 200 days through various layers of rock until it reaches us in the valley – enriched with many minerals.
The excess water – i.e. that which is not needed by households for drinking, cooking, washing, showering, etc. – flows from the spring directly into a small hydroelectric power plant, thereby generating valuable eco-electricity.

Built sustainably…. on stone and wood….

Regional building materials

  • The Alpine Lodge Klösterle was planned by a Vorarlberg architect and implemented using local small businesses and predominantly regional resources.
  • Wood – a renewable resource – played an essential role. For example, the entire exterior façade was made of larch. In the apartments, the doors, floors and furniture are made of oak. The windows with aluminum frames and triple-layer glazing not only provide nightly peace and quiet, but are also excellently insulated and thus help to create a comfortable living climate. Ventilate briefly and then close again.
  • Not only with the building of the Alpine Lodge Klösterle we paid attention to regionality,  also the hot water preparation and heating of the entire building take place with pellets – a regenerating regional raw material.
  • While only larch wood was used for the exterior façade, the panorama spa is characterized by Swiss pine – the entire area is furnished in noble, rich Swiss pine wood.
